The 2016 Cold Lake Airshow, being planned and executed in partnership with the City of Cold Lake, is surely to be an incredible two-day event, bringing the community and surrounding regions together for a fun-filled and exciting summer attraction.
My name is Colonel Eric Kenny, Commander of 4 Wing and Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Cold Lake, and it is my honour to welcome you to the 2016 Cold Lake Airshow.
4 Wing and CFB Cold Lake enjoy a special bond with the City of Cold Lake, its surrounding communities and the Lakeland Region as a whole. Time and time again, we support each other and bring high quality events to the region- events we are pleased to share with you.
The show will feature aerial demonstrations from both military and civilian performers from all across North America.
Military performers include the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, the CF-18 Hornet Demonstration Team, the Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team - the Skyhawks, the USAF F16 Viper Demonstration Team and a simulated mass airfield attack performed by CF-18 Hornets based right here at 4 Wing Cold Lake!
The list of world-class civilian performers already includes Greg Coyler and his Ace Maker Air Show flying the iconic T-33 “T-Bird”, Kent Pietsch and his aerial comedy act, FireFly aviation and their pair of T-28 Trojans, Indy Boys and their jet powered school bus, and AV8FX Pyrotechnics with their exciting explosives display.
On top of that, there will be an impressive assortment of static displays and other attractions from around the world. The show will also celebrate and highlight Canada’s role in space by having one current Canadian astronaut, Lieutenant-Colonel Jeremy Hansen in attendance.
The 2016 Cold Lake Airshow will feature improved traffic access and parking, an increase in the number of on-site portable washroom facilities and the addition of more food vendors. We will also be adding a Beer Tent for all spectators over the age of 18.
This Airshow will surely be a great opportunity for the entire family to interact first hand with the Canadian Armed Forces, the Royal Canadian Air Force, 4 Wing and CFB Cold Lake, all in the backyard of the wonderful Cold Lake community.
I am looking forward to this upcoming event, and working to create lasting memories for all spectators and visitors. You have my commitment that this will be an unforgettable experience.

Commander 4 Wing
The City of Cold Lake is proud to support the 2016 Air Show that 4 Wing will be graciously hosting.
The Air Show brings a great sense of pride to our area. As community members, we are not only able to take in the grand display of aircraft and flight demonstrations, but we can share the event with visitors.
The City of Cold Lake is proud to be the home of 4 Wing and we cherish these times when members of 4 Wing can dedicate the tremendous amount of time and effort it requires to bring together such an amazing event.
We are ecstatic to hear that the show is being planned as a regular event and are always ready to help our friends and neighbours at 4 Wing.
Cold Lakers are used to hearing the rumbling of the CF-18s and seeing the jets on their way to and from their training missions. But nothing can compare to seeing the full display of these pilots’ talents close up: it’s an awe-inspiring experience that stays with you.
I encourage everyone to attend the 2016 Air Show, and support the Wing Commander and all members of 4 Wing in their efforts.
This event will be a spectacular display of the Royal Canadian Air Force, the best of civilian aviation and our north eastern Alberta hospitality. I look forward to seeing everyone at the 2016 Air Show and join all residents of Cold Lake in thanking the members of 4 Wing for making our community, and our country, the great place it is to live.
